Would you like to write for Silent Sound Waves?

After getting off to a good start in the new year, we have decided to expand our little operation here at Silent Sound Waves by taking on additional writers. Does this opportunity tickle your interest? Read on for all the details.

During the last month and a half of 2008 and the first weeks of 2009 we have put in a little extra effort in our work here at Silent Sound Waves, and the results have proved that there is indeed room and readership for what we bring to the table. This is what we want to capitalize on, and such we are now looking for encouraged people who are interested in joining our team of writers.

The blog is run completely on a volunteer basis, meaning there is no monetary compensation involved for any of us on the team. We do what we do because we love music, and want to spread the word about the music that catches our ears. It is however also a great opportunity to make a name for yourself in the music scene. Silent Sound Waves is currently being visited by hundreds of people every day, and there are no signs of our growth slowing down.

Right now we are looking for people who can review the latest record releases, but you would also be free to write news pieces, articles for our existing columns or even suggest new ones. Additionally, we would love to take on someone who could specialize in interviewing bands and artists. In this case, your “job” would consist of getting in touch with bands and setting up the interviews as well as conducting them (text, or even sound/video if your location permits). We do however realize that the latter position would be hard to fill without offering any sort of compensation.

Requirements: Obviously we are looking for people who eat, sleep and dream music, and have a lot to say about what you listen to. Ideally you would be a decent writer as well. Staff members are expected to write one article per week, and at the bare minimum two articles per month. Please do not apply if you do not think that you will be able to meet this requirement. While we realize that setting requirements and demands for volunteers might seem a bit, well, you know, we feel that there is little point in joining the staff unless you actually intend to contribute.

If you are interested, use the contact form or send me an e-mail at lars-christian (at) silentsoundwaves (dot) com. When getting in touch, share a bit information about who you are, and why you think you would be a good addition to our staff, and including a sample of your writing certainly wouldn’t hurt your chances!
