Death Cab for Cutie released their sixth full-length album, Narrow Stairs, last year to mixed receptions among fans and critics. We here at Silent Sound Waves found it to be a solid album regardless, and were thrilled to hear that they are now planning to release an EP called The Open Door, consisting of four B-Sides that didn’t make the final version of the album. Read on to see what bassist Nick Harmer had to say about the EP, and see the recently premiered video for Grapevine Fires off of Stairs.

Album art for To Lose My Life by White Lies
The United States might be the dominating force in most aspects of the entertainment industry, but when it comes to constantly delivering new and universally appealing bands that operate within the rock-genre, many would argue that the United Kingdom has them beat. The latest piece of evidence to support that claim is an alt-rock trio from the outskirts of London known as White Lies.

Album art for Pins & Panzers by Plushgun
Ben Gibbard’s statement from a few years back about a new record from The Postal Service being “unlikely, at least this decade” might have disappointed quite a few fans, but those same fans will find comfort in discovering Pins & Panzers, as the debut album from Plushgun that will certainly help fill the void. The symphonic collection of synthetic, low-fi electronic sounds coupled with engaging lyrics that made The Postal Service are characteristics that could just as well be applied to Plushgun.

Album art for 003 by Oh No Not Stereo
