In the News: New songs from My Chemical Romance, Coldplay and more

In The News - Week 6Starting today we will introduce a new regular column here at Silent Sound Waves that will help you stay updated on the latest news about your favourite (or not so much) artists. One or two times per week we will do a little round-up of the latest and greatest that have caught our attention in the past couple of days, but doesn’t necessarily fit our requirements for a dedicated news post. This way you will have a chance to stay updated without having to wade through 200 something new posts in your RSS reader every day. Hit the jump for new songs from My Chemical Romance, Coldplay and more!

My Chemical Romance release Bob Dylan cover

My Chemical Romance recently premiered a new video for their latest song, Desolation Road, which is a Bob Dylan cover that was made for the movie Watchmen. It is available as single from iTunes, or as a part of the Watchmen Soundtrack, which also features songs from Nat King Cole, Leonard Cohen and Janis Joplin, among others (or so we assume, at least). Watch the video below:

Will Champion sings the new Coldplay tune

Coldplay have also released a new song, and they can even boast of having made it themselves. The title of this new track is The Goldrush, and it comes from the 7″ vinyl of their single Life in Technicolor II. What makes this little gem from Coldplay special is that Chris Martin lends the lead vocals role to drummer Will Champion, and Champion proves that he handles these types of songs really well. The US festival summer of 2009 takes shape

Moving on to the festival summer, it is looking bright for those in the US who plans to attend Coachella and Bonnaroo. Headliners for the former include Paul McCartney, Morrissey, The Killers and The Cure, while the latter can boast of having Bruce Springsteen, Nine Inch Nails, Elvis Costello, MGMT and many more. Click the festival names to see the full line-ups. In a less fortunate turn of events, Langerado 2009 has been cancelled.
