In the News: Grammys, Muse, Green Day and Tom McRae

In The News - Week 7Radiohead made the headlines from the Grammys with their performance of 15 Step in collaboration with the USC Marching Band, and afterwards they went home with the award for “Best Alternative Album”. See their performance, as well as other notable award winners and news about new albums from Muse and Green Day inside.

It was also a great night for Coldplay, who took home the awards for “Best Rock Album” and song of the year with Viva La Vida and the title-track from the same album. It was however Robert Plant and Alison Krauss that came out on top as the biggest winners as they took home “Record of The Year” and “Album of The Year” and three other awards. Green Day to release “21st Century Breakdown” in May

Fans of Green Day will undoubedtly be excited to hear that the band are releasing the follow up to 2004’s American Idiot in May of this year. 21st Century Breakdown will be their eight full-length studio album, and can be pre-ordered fromĀ GreenDayMusic.com.

New album from Muse in September?

NME are reporting that “an insider” claim that Muse will be set to release their fifth studio album as early as September, along with the launch of a European tour. The band has previously reported that they aren’t working on a strict schedule, and is more concerned about the quality of the new album than whether it comes out in 2009 or 2010.

Not much investigative reporting on this little update, but singer/songwriter Tom McRae has posted again on his blog, this time calling out a piece on Christianity in The Guardian. The purpose of including this is to encourage all of you to ead his blog if you haven’t already, because it makes for great entertainment when he is sharing his thoughts!
