Death Cab for Cutie planning a B-Sides EP
Death Cab for Cutie released their sixth full-length album, Narrow Stairs, last year to mixed receptions among fans and critics. We here at Silent Sound Waves found it to be a solid album regardless, and were thrilled to hear that they are now planning to release an EP called The Open Door, consisting of four B-Sides that didn’t make the final version of the album. Read on to see what bassist Nick Harmer had to say about the EP, and see the recently premiered video for Grapevine Fires off of Stairs.
Harmer to MTV regarding the new B-Sides EP:
When we finished Narrow Stairs, there were four extra songs that, because we were trying to put together an album, we ended up not including them — it’s not like they’re castoffs or anything; they’re part of the Narrow Stairs experience,” Harmer said. “They needed to have a proper home, and the EP is it. There’s going to be four songs on it, plus the original version of ‘Talking Bird’ that features Ben [Gibbard] singing and playing the ukulele. It’ll be out this year, I think. And then, you know, back to the grind again.
As you may or may not have heard, the video for Grapevine Fires off of Narrow Stairs was recently released. The animated film was created by the two-piece Walter Robot, and alignes perfectly with the story and mood of the song. Watch it below.
